i’m not sure when it started, but we occasionally make deals with john.  the deal can be something simple, if you finish your dinner you get to watch a “johnny show.”  the deal is not complete without both parties agreeing and shaking hands.  the best deal i made with john was i would make him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich if he wore his school shirt to school that day (he was getting a pb&j sandwich no matter what). 

tonight’s deal was john needed to finish his dinner and his homework.  if he finished his dinner and homework, then he got a fruit by the foot and to watch a “johnny show” before bed.  immediately after he completed his homework he says, “ok, daddy, can i have one of those things?”  he ran upstairs, got a fruit by the foot and came back downstairs.  looks at kyle and says, “i got my snack and i’m gonna sit in your chair.”  he then climbs into kyle’s chair and makes himself comfortable.
