Jenkinson’s Aquarium visited the Lincroft Learning Center today. John told me about it on our way home from school. “Three things came to school today: a starfish, a horseshoe crab and a snail. But I only touched the starfish. I was a little afraid of the horseshoe crab.” I, of course, had to see if he knew a lot about the horseshoe crab and said it’s because you were afraid of the pinchers. “No Mommy! They don’t have pinchers. They have a hard shell. And you know what? They swim on their back. You know why? So they can look for food.” After he told me a about the horseshoe crab, I asked him to tell me about the starfish. “You know that they have five legs. And their belly is right in the middle. Do you know where their mouth is? It’s in the middle. And they have a leg right on their head. And they have suction cups!” I love that he is excited about learning and I learned a little something too today.
