John’s class has a traffic light that they use to rate the kids behavior throughout the day. If you are on the green light, you are good. If you are on the yellow light, you need to think more. And if you are on the red light, you are not listening. When the kids have a good day or week Miss Courtney awards them with a certificate and a little prize like a temporary tattoo.
Yesterday John was on the yellow light. Daddy and I told John today that he needed to think more and listen to what the teachers say. Tonight I was driving the family to dinner and in the car John was telling us about his day. “I have to tell you something. Today I was on the red light. But I got a certificate. It was really weird.” I have to admit it, I lost it. I am so glad that I was driving and he couldn’t see me laughing. Of course we ask him why he was on the red light. He responded “I don’t remember. But I got a certificate.” We are still not sure why he got put on the red light, but I did get a good laugh out of it.
