Sunday morning, Gillian was complaining of stomach pain and nausea. We thought it would go away, but it didn’t. She had some tenderness when you touched her stomach and a low grade fever. We were afraid that maybe she was suffering from an appendicitis. So we took her to a walk-in. The doctor checked her out and said “I would recommend taking her to the hospital.” That’s all it took and we went to the hospital.
At the hospital we explained that she was complaining of stomach pain, nausea and had a low grade fever. They examined her belly and put her on IV fluids and some anti nausea meds. Gillian has never had blood drawn, but she was calm and tough as they inserted the IV. Next she had a X-ray of her belly. The X-ray didn’t reveal anything so we had to wait for an ultrasound. Her blood work came back which showed elevated white cells.
After waiting for a few hours, the ultrasound tech arrived. Gillian did awesome. She sat still for the tech and only giggled because the jelly was cold on her belly. Luckily the ultrasound revealed that there was nothing wrong with her appendix. The doctors determined that she had an infection in her intestines that caused a lot of gas to build up. The gas was causing her pain.

Gillian if you are reading this, I want you to know that you were so brave in the hospital. You didn’t flinch when they inserted the IV. You weren’t afraid to have an X-ray. You were amazing. Daddy and I are so proud of you!
